The Ridgecroft Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgecroft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Ridgecroft is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Pungo Christian Academy by a score of 7-3. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
Dawson Collins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ridgecroft's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Kerr-Vance Academy got themselves on the board against Halifax Academy on Thursday, but Halifax Academy never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
Like Ridgecroft, Kerr-Vance Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Nathan McDaniel. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. McDaniel was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, MJ Wright was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Jaxton Stokes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Ridgecroft's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, their record is now 9-14.
Ridgecroft's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Rams have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Kerr-Vance Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ridgecroft continue to outrun the ball?
