Baseball Recap: Holtville Takes a Loss

Holtville came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Calexico Bulldogs, falling 10-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Holtville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zavien Aguirre, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Nehemiah Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Holtville's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Calexico, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3-1 record this season.

While Holtville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
