Softball Recap: Moorefield Yellow Jackets vs. Strasburg Rams
Moorefield fell victim to Strasburg and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They suffered a tough 6-0 defeat at the hands of the Strasburg Rams. Moorefield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Strasburg's part, Ava Mayhew made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Mayhew has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Mayhew was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Hannah Merriner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylie Arnold, who went 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Moorefield's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Strasburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.
