Baseball Recap: Carroll Comes Up Short

Carroll was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Penn Kingsmen, falling 15-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Kingsmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 on Saturday.

Jaxon Sparks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Carroll: the team is 6-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carter Irons, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Penn, they pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carroll will welcome Homestead at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Penn, they will be playing at home against New Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
