Basketball Recap: West Brunswick Find Success

West Brunswick won the last time they faced North Brunswick and things went their way on Friday too. The West Brunswick Trojans came out on top against the North Brunswick Scorpions by a score of 52-41.

West Brunswick had a senior duo take command as Saniya Stanley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds and Jahyra Mastry posted 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stanley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Coble, who put up four points in addition to nine assists and eight boards.

Loss or not, North Brunswick got some senior leadership from Ayanna Meyers and Mariah Bell. Meyers dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Bell scored 12 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Bell a new career-high in points. Hallie Crowder also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

West Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for North Brunswick, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

West Brunswick and North Brunswick could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. West Brunswick will challenge New Hanover at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 219 places (261 vs. 42). West Brunswick is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. Meanwhile, North Brunswick (ranked 396th) will meet Laney (ranked 116th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
