Preview: Del Norte Knights vs. Manzano Monarchs
Del Norte has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Manzano Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Del Norte nor Manzano posted many points in their last games could muster much offensive firepower in their last games.
Del Norte fell victim to Valley's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Vikings at home and fell 53-0.
Meanwhile, Manzano's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Los Alamos 48-9. Manzano was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.
The losing side was boosted by Josh Nieto, who gained 107 total yards.
Del Norte has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight contests, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season. As for Manzano, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Del Norte was dealt a bruising 55-26 loss at the hands of Manzano in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Del Norte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
