Ballard entered their tilt with Eastern on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Eagles 11-1. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Shelby James was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ballard got a massive performance out of Aubrie Newton, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Payton Downey, who went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Ballard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ballard pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Eastern, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.

Looking ahead, Ballard will welcome Mercy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Eastern, they will head out to take on Great Crossing at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
