Baseball Game Preview: San Pedro Pirates vs. Venice Gondoliers

The San Pedro Pirates will square off against the Venice Gondoliers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. San Pedro's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matchups, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between San Pedro and Carson, and Carson kept the tradition alive. The Pirates took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Venice had already won 16 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 17 on Friday. They blew past the Lions 17-9. The Gondoliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Venice's victory was their 12th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for San Pedro, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

San Pedro took their victory against Venice in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Gondoliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
