Softball Recap: Westerville Central Warhawks vs. Lincoln Lions
Westerville Central had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it six. They fell just short of the Lincoln Lions by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 two weeks ago.
As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The win was familiar territory for they, who have now won five games in a row.
For Lincoln's part, Ella Carlson looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Carlson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kira Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Esterby, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
