Baseball Game Preview: Triton Trojans vs. Oregon-Davis Bobcats

Triton and Oregon-Davis are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2015, but likely not for long. The Trojans will head out to face off against the Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Triton has three straight wins, Oregon-Davis has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Triton needed a bit of extra time to put away Culver Community. They had just enough and edged out the Cavaliers 7-6.

Levi McFarland was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

McFarland wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Kaufman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Kaufman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Isaiah Vaca also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Oregon-Davis played against North Miami on Saturday and lost via forfeit.

Oregon-Davis' defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Triton, their record now sits at 8-6.

Triton took their victory against Oregon-Davis when the teams last played on Friday by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
