Basketball Game Preview: Faith Lutheran Lions vs. Faustina Academy Falcons

The Faith Lutheran Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Faustina Academy Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Faith Lutheran is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Faith Lutheran lost to Lakewood Presbyterian at home by a 41-27 margin. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 12-8 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Faith Lutheran had strong showings from Tara Leicht, who posted 12 points, and Evangeline Hoff, who scored ten points. That was a full 44.4% of Faith Lutheran's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sara Ponnaboyena also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Meanwhile, Faustina Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Azle Christian on Tuesday, taking the game 34-27. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Faustina Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Faith Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
