Baseball Game Preview: Mendez Jaguars vs. Gardena Panthers

The Mendez Jaguars will square off against the Gardena Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Neither Mendez nor Gardena posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Mendez came up short against Fremont on Wednesday, falling 10-2. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ty Guzman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Gardena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sotomayor.

Gardena saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Gardena's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Mendez, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mendez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gardena struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Mendez beat Gardena 6-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2020. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
