Basketball Game Preview: Eagle Mustangs vs. Ridgevue Warhawks

The Eagle Mustangs will take on the Ridgevue Warhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eagle has five straight victories, Ridgevue has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Eagle is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Rocky Mountain, who was ranked 21st at the time (Eagle was ranked fourth). Eagle came out on top against Rocky Mountain by a score of 52-43 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Ridgevue came up short against Timberline on Tuesday and fell 63-54.

Loss or not, Ridgevue got some senior leadership from Myra Martinez and McKenna Durrant. Martinez posted 13 points, while Durrant went 5 for 8 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Martinez also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Marissa Tuft was another key player, putting up five points.

Eagle is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which somehow still isn't as good as their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Ridgevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
