Preview: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. Trinity Classical Academy Knights
Capistrano Valley Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Trinity Classical Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Capistrano Valley Christian will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Last Friday, Capistrano Valley Christian was fully in charge, breezing past Riverside Prep 51-8 at home. Given Capistrano Valley Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Riverside Prep is ranked 932nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nate Richie was a one-man wrecking crew for Capistrano Valley Christian as he threw for 281 yards and five touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes. Richie is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Heath Carlson did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 71 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Trinity Classical Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 49-0 loss at the hands of Linfield Christian. Trinity Classical Academy was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Capistrano Valley Christian's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1. They've been dominating across those matches too: they took their wins by an average of 28 points. As for Trinity Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Capistrano Valley Christian against Trinity Classical Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 45-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Capistrano Valley Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
