Soccer Recap: Elgin Takes a Loss

If Elgin was riding high fresh off their 8-0 takedown of Altus last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Owls fell just short of the Santa Fe South Saints by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Elgin of the 5-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Elgin's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Santa Fe South, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elgin will square off against MacArthur at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. MacArthur will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Elgin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Santa Fe South, they will take on Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
