Baseball Game Preview: Deering Rams vs. Falmouth Navigators

Deering is 0-8 against Falmouth since June of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Rams will host the Navigators at 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Deering's offense. They fell just short of Bonny Eagle by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Falmouth sidestepped South Portland for a 6-5 win. The Navigators haven't had any issues with the Red Riots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tyler Simmons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other pitching news, Milo Matson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances.

Falmouth's win bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Deering, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
