League recap: League supremacy in the balance for Redlands, Redlands East Valley this week

Citrus Belt league recap: 3/8/13

First place in the standings of Citrus Belt is up for grabs this week, as Redlands East Valley sits tied atop the standings with Redlands.

The Wildcats had a successful week, as they won three total games to lead the league. Redlands East Valley beat JW North 3-2, Oak Hills 3-0 and Heritage 10-3.

Yucaipa's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only six hits and three walks, both of which led the league.

Redlands East Valley led the league with 35 runs scored this week, but the Terriers still hold the season lead with 38 runs.

Jimmy Walker has set a torrid offensive pace for Redlands, and is first in the league in average, hits and runs batted in. Walker has terrorized opposing pitchers, hitting .714 and racking up ten hits and 11 RBIs.

Ten batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Sam Goldstein, who hit 1.000 this week (3-for-3).



Tyler Wells led the Thunderbirds to a win on March 2, as he notched nine strikeouts to beat Carter, 7-2. He gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings of work.

Sam Goldstein drove in four runners as Miller defeated Rubidoux 8-0 on Monday. He went 3-for-3 and scored one run.
