Basketball Recap: Gillespie Takes a Loss

Gillespie has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Nokomis Redskins. The Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redskins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Nokomis was led to victory by Natalie Brownback and Kinley Stolte. Brownback posted 13 points along with six boards and four steals, while Stolte almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Camryn Engelman was another key player, putting up six points.

Gillespie's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Nokomis, their record now sits at 13-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gillespie beat Nokomis by a score of 60-50 on Thursday.
