Recap: Maranatha Christian Eagles vs. Escondido Charter White Tigers
The Maranatha Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Escondido Charter on the road by a decisive 67-52 margin. Maranatha Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Escondido Charter apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Christian Nguyen was on fire for Escondido Charter: he scored 28 points. That's the first time this season that Nguyen scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Pincock, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Maranatha Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Escondido Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Maranatha Christian will head out on the road to face off against Bishop's at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Escondido Charter, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Foothills Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
