Baseball Game Preview: Piedmont Wildcats vs. Perry Maroons

The Piedmont Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Perry Maroons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Perry's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Piedmont hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand Putnam City a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Wildcats have beaten the Pirates the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Perry had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Hennessey on Thursday as they made off with an 11-5 win.

Piedmont's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Perry, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.

Piedmont beat Perry 6-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Maroons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
