Softball Recap: Edon Comes Up Short

If Edon was feeling good fresh off their 19-3 takedown of North Central on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bombers fell 8-4 to the Pettisville Blackbirds on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blackbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-8 last Monday.

Nevaeh Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Kaylynn Bartlett also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Edon's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Pettisville, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Edon will head out to square off against Gorham Fayette at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bombers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Pettisville, they will welcome Patrick Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blackbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season.
