Basketball Recap: Martins Ferry Comes Up Short

If Martins Ferry was feeling good fresh off their 74-35 takedown of Shadyside last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Martins Ferry Purple Riders were dealt an 86-54 loss at the hands of the Monroe Central Seminoles on Wednesday. The Purple Riders haven't had much luck with the Seminoles recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Martins Ferry's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Monroe Central, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Martins Ferry and Monroe Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Martins Ferry will take on Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on February 22nd up 340 places (275 vs. 615). Similarly, Monroe Central (ranked 79th) will meet Crooksville (ranked 557th) at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st.
