Basketball Recap: Aubrey Rogers Takes a Loss

Aubrey Rogers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The match between them and the Gateway Eagles didn't end well, with the Aubrey Rogers Patriots falling 81-65. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 595th, while the Eagles are ranked 236th).

Despite the loss, Aubrey Rogers still got an impressive performance from Hunter Puthoff, who posted 24 points. The dominant performance gave Puthoff a new career-high in points. Muhammad Yusuf was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Aubrey Rogers' loss dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Gateway, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Aubrey Rogers will take on Lely on Wednesday. Gateway has already played their next game, a 52-42 defeat against First Baptist Academy on the 31st.
