Ellinwood had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 37-36 victory over the Stanton County Trojans. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Mette Maxwell went supernova for Ellinwood, shooting 55% from beyond the arc on her way to 20 points and five boards. Those 20 points gave Maxwell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Widener, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Stanton County lost on Wednesday, don't look at Avery Scott. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 23 points and 20 boards. Scott is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 17 games she's played. Kenzington Nairn was another key player, putting up four points.

Ellinwood pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points on average over those games. As for Stanton County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Ellinwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 43-31 defeat against Phillipsburg on the 8th. Stanton County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
