Softball Recap: Homer-Center Gets the Win

Homer-Center was handed a 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Portage Mustangs 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 22, 2024.

Bekah Marshall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Ava King was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Rado, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory got Homer-Center back to even at 3-3. As for Portage, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Homer-Center will face off against rival Purchase Line at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Portage is set to take on their familiar foe Conemaugh Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
