Basketball Game Preview: Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins vs. Norfolk Christian Ambassadors

Cape Henry Collegiate is 1-9 against Norfolk Christian since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins will take on the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors at 5:30 p.m.

Cape Henry Collegiate came up short against Hampton Roads Academy on Tuesday, falling 49-28. While losing is never fun, the Dolphins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Navigators are ranked 39th).

Meanwhile, Norfolk Christian entered their tilt with Catholic on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 54-47 win over the Crusaders.

Norfolk Christian's win came from a few key players Cape Henry Collegiate will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brianna Norman, who went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Justice Brown-Jones, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Norfolk Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

This is the second loss in a row for Cape Henry Collegiate and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Norfolk Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Cape Henry Collegiate was taken down by Norfolk Christian 62-10 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brown-Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
