Softball Recap: Gallia Academy Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Gallia Academy and Rock Hill meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Redmen by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Ava Angel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Reagan Skidmore also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

With the defeat, Gallia Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2. As for Rock Hill, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Gallia Academy will square off against rival Dawson-Bryant at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Rock Hill is set to face off against their familiar foe South Point at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
