Recap: Community Christian Warriors vs. Avalon Eagles
The Community Christian Warriors waltzed into Saturday's match with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They were the clear victor by a 50-29 margin over Avalon. The result was nothing new for Community Christian, who have now won seven contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Leading Community Christian to victory were Jonathan Blackburn and Josiah Marquez. Blackburn scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds, while Marquez dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Blackburn has scored at least 25% of Community Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Price Horton, who scored 5 points along with 6 steals.
Community Christian's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Avalon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Community Christian is on the road again on Saturday and play against Mount Calm at 6:30 p.m. on December 9th. Mount Calm will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1450th, while Community Christian is ranked 384th). As for Avalon, they will head out on the road to face off against Blooming Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
