Baseball Recap: Alamosa Falls to Salida in First Game of Season

Alamosa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Salida Spartans by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. The Mean Moose were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

AJ Baker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Carlos Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Looking ahead, Alamosa will challenge Montrose at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salida, they will take on Cedaredge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
