Basketball Recap: Rickards Drops Season-High Score on Chiles

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rickards). They put the hurt on the Chiles Timberwolves with a sharp 73-47 win on Tuesday. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Timberwolves are ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rickards' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Benjamin Plummer, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 21 points. The matchup was Plummer's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Calvin Thomas, who went 7 for 9 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

Rickards was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Chiles had strong showings from Gabe Parks, who posted 13 points and five assists, and Isaiah Bundrage, who scored 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Bundrage has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Austin Mauler was another key player, putting up six points.

Rickards has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Chiles, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Rickards didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-48 win against Lincoln on the 17th. Chiles has also already played their next match, a 55-45 victory against Community Leadership Academy on the 15th.
