Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Catholic Celtics vs. Citrus Hurricanes

The Trinity Catholic Celtics will take on the Citrus Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Trinity Catholic fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against South Sumter on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (7-6), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Trinity Catholic got a good showing from Nate Colon, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Aidan Elgart and Matthew Wetherell stepped up to the plate in a big way. Elgart scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Wetherell scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Tanko, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Citrus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Central on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Weston Brannen, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

Citrus' win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Trinity Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
