Baseball Recap: Clearview Takes Down Ranked Gloucester Catholic

Clearview faced Gloucester Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Pioneers walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Rams. This was a revenge game for the Pioneers: when they faced off against the Rams back in April, they had to take a 16-1 loss.

The team relied heavily on Ben Doney, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ean Marcussen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.

Clearview pushed their record up to 17-5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Gloucester Catholic, they moved to 15-4 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
