Baseball Game Preview: South Gibson Hornets vs. Covington Chargers

For the second straight game, South Gibson will face off against Covington. The Hornets will welcome the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Gibson has seven straight victories, Covington has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, South Gibson made easy work of Covington and carried off a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Gage Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

South Gibson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

South Gibson's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Covington, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17.
