At the plate, South Bend Saint Joseph let Joe Washburn and A.J. LaSane run wild. Washburn went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while LaSane went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Washburn is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Langager, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Elkhart earned a 4-1 win over Jimtown on Saturday.
Quinn Rost made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Rost was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Shreiner, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Brady Sherwood was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Elkhart's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, their win bumped their record up to 11-0.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Bend Saint Joseph has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .476. However, it's not like Elkhart struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
