Baseball Recap: Mentor's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

After a string of five wins, Mentor's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They came up short against the Medina Battling Bees, falling 8-2. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Battling Bees apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Brayden Bortnick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Mentor's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Medina, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

While Mentor had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
