Football Recap: Hayes Goddard Key Part of Team Effort in Iron Horses Win + How To Watch

Philip Simmons had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-2 to make it five. They put the hurt on the Timberland Wolves with a sharp 22-0 win. Give the Iron Horses' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Philip Simmons to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayes Goddard, who threw for 302 yards and one TD while completing 76% of his passes, and also rushed for 58 yards. Goddard's passing game has become a key predictor of the Iron Horses' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Patrick Clarke got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

As for Timberland, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. They haven't had much luck with Philip Simmons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the loss, Timberland still got an impressive performance from Antaun Faison Jr, who rushed for 107 yards on only 14 carries.

Philip Simmons has already played their next game, a 28-14 victory against Andrews on the 30th. As for Timberland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 31-0 win against Woodland on the 31st.
