Basketball Recap: Ozark Takes a Loss

If Ozark was feeling good fresh off their 63-32 takedown of Louisburg last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ozark Tigers fell 65-52 to the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds on Friday. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Thunderbirds from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Leading Shawnee Heights to victory were Jaret Sanchez and JaiMarion Cook. Sanchez almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine assists, while Cook went 5 for 9 en route to 18 points. Sanchez's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ontarius Emmot, who posted 11 points.

Ozark's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Shawnee Heights, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Ozark will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Carthage at 7:00 p.m. As for Shawnee Heights, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-41 victory against Blue Valley North on the 25th.
