Baseball Game Preview: Locust Fork Hornets vs. Gaston Bulldogs

The Locust Fork Hornets will head out to challenge the Gaston Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Locust Fork's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Crossville 12-0. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Landon Keith, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Chris Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Gaston had just enough and edged Gaylesville out 4-3 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Gaston's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs over those games. As for Locust Fork, their record now sits at 2-0.

Locust Fork was able to grind out a solid win over Gaston when the teams last played on Monday, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Locust Fork since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
