Basketball Game Preview: Trenton Tigers vs. Newberry Panthers + Official Tickets

Trenton is 2-8 against Newberry since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Trenton has insisted on making their last six contests (dating back to last season) complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-3 during that stretch of close contests.

It was a proper cat-fight when Trenton faced off against The Rock on Tuesday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Lions 80-78.

Trenton can attribute much of their success to Mason VunCannon, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Tyler Bullis, who shot 54% from the field to rack up 22 points along with seven boards and five assists. That's the most points Bullis has posted since back in November of 2024. Nathan Ridgell was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Trenton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Newberry took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They strolled past Buchholz with points to spare, taking the game 70-52.

Trenton now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Newberry, their record is now 1-0.

Trenton suffered a grim 69-45 defeat to Newberry in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
