Volleyball Recap: Westborough Takes Down Lowell in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Westborough had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Lowell Red Raiders 3-0 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Rangers, who have now won five matches in a row.

While Westborough won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-22, 25-12.

Leading Westborough to victory were Sylvia Benyas and Katie Xia. Benyas had eight digs and two aces, while Xia had ten digs and two assists. Those eight digs gave Benyas a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Westborough was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in five consecutive matchups.

Westborough's victory bumped their record up to 15-2-1. As for Lowell, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

As of now, neither Westborough nor the Red Raiders have any future games scheduled.
