Basketball Game Preview: Reed Raiders vs. Douglas Tigers

Reed is 2-8 against Douglas since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Reed Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Douglas Tigers at 5:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Reed is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Bishop Manogue, who was ranked 25th at the time (Reed was ranked sixth). Reed secured a 32-28 W over Bishop Manogue on Wednesday. The 32-point effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Douglas entered their tilt with McQueen on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Lancers 70-54.

Reed better keep an eye on Ashlyn Greenfield. She was instrumental in Douglas' win, going 8 for 19 en route to 21 points and five steals. Greenfield has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Giana Zinke was another key player, putting up nine points.

Douglas was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Reed's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Douglas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Reed was able to grind out a solid win over Douglas in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 49-36. Will Reed repeat their success, or does Douglas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
