Juan Mejia Turns in Season-Best Performance

On Friday, Johnson County got the W thanks in part to Juan Mejia playing the best football he has all season. Mejia wasn't messing around, rushing for 205 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. The match was his seventh straight with two or more rushing touchdowns dating back to last season.

Mejia must have Chuckey-Doak's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Mejia rushed for 160 yards the last time he and the Black Knights duked it out back in October of 2023.

Kolby Jones' Rushing Yards a New Career-High

Kolby Jones produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Unicoi County to the win on Friday. Jones rushed for 110 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

If history really does repeat itself, Jones might just drop another big game when he faces off against Claiborne on Friday. When Jones last faced the Bulldogs back in October of 2023, he threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73% of his passes.

Brayden Maples was a major factor in Gatlinburg-Pittman's win over Claiborne on Friday. Maples was dynamite, making a tackle.

Gatlinburg-Pittman is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Maples and Gatlinburg-Pittman will take on Johnson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
