Basketball Game Preview: Chillicothe Cavaliers vs. Athens Bulldogs

The Chillicothe Cavaliers will square off against the Athens Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chillicothe has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 21.

Chillicothe is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Fairfield Union on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chillicothe took a blow against Fairfield Union, falling 58-14. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 661st, while the Falcons are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Athens came up short against Circleville on Saturday and fell 51-39. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Chillicothe, their loss dropped their record down to 1-21.

Chillicothe came up short against Athens when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 43-36. Can Chillicothe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
