Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Eagles vs. Norwood Pirates

The Liberty Eagles will take on the Norwood Pirates in a tournament on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Liberty saw some tournament action on Monday. They fell just short of Mountain Grove by a score of 60-58.

Meanwhile, Norwood entered their tilt with Mountain Grove on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Panthers 71-56. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Panthers are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Norwood's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.9 points per game. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Liberty came up short against Norwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 68-64. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
