Football Game Preview: Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees vs. Ruston Bearcats

The Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees will face off against the Ruston Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ruston will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Stephenville extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Yellow Jackets/Honeybees took their game with ease, bagging a 64-28 victory over La Vega. With the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees ahead 47-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

One reason for the win was Stephenville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Ruston against Midland Legacy on Thursday as the squad secured a 49-21 win. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in Louisiana, while the Rebels are ranked 86th in Texas) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stephenville's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Ruston, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Stephenville was taken down by Ruston 63-17 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees were down 42-17.
