Basketball Game Preview: Woods Charter Wolves vs. Wake Prep Academy Guardians

The Woods Charter Wolves will head out to face off against the Wake Prep Academy Guardians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are still undefeated after three games, but that won't be the case come Tuesday.

Woods Charter will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Research Triangle, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wolves came out on top against the Raptors by a score of 52-41 two weeks ago.

Woods Charter can attribute much of their success to Levi Haygood, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Haygood a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Campbell Blackburn, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Wake Prep Academy on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Roxboro Community out of the water with a 62-18 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Guardians had established a 33-point advantage.

Woods Charter's record now sits at 3-0. As for Wake Prep Academy, their record is now an identical 3-0.

Woods Charter was dealt a bruising 73-36 defeat at the hands of Wake Prep Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
