Softball Recap: Whitko Falls Short of South Adams in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Whitko can now relate to. They came up short against the South Adams Starfires on Thursday, falling 12-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this matchup were averaging 3.88 runs allowed.

Whitko saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Long, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Whitko has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season. As for South Adams, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 23-5.

Whitko does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Adams, they will square off against Woodlan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Starfires' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season.
