Preview: Apprentice Academy Red Wolves vs. Piedmont Community Charter Patriots
Apprentice Academy is 0-4 against Piedmont Community Charter since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Apprentice Academy Red Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Apprentice Academy is hoping to put an end to a 16-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Apprentice Academy was beaten by Queen's Grant 92-45. Apprentice Academy has not had much luck with Queen's Grant recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite their loss, Apprentice Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Radear Watson, who scored 21 points along with three steals and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 46.7% of Apprentice Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Eddington, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Community Charter entered their tilt with Jackson Day with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Piedmont Community Charter blew past Jackson Day 74-34 at home. Piedmont Community Charter has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Bobby Erwin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Xavier Wilcher, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Apprentice Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Piedmont Community Charter, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Apprentice Academy was dealt a bruising 75-36 loss at the hands of Piedmont Community Charter when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Apprentice Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
