Basketball Recap: Hodgeman County's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hodgeman County won the last time they faced Wichita County and things went their way on Saturday too. The Hodgeman County Longhorns came out on top against the Wichita County Indians by a score of 53-41. The victory was just business as usual for the Longhorns, who after four games remain undefeated this season.

Hodgeman County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ian Reece out in front who went 5 of 11 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds. Reece is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Brody Schroeder was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Hodgeman County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Wichita County lost, don't look at Francisco Figueroa. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points and four steals. Those 19 points gave Figueroa a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Figueroa, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Hodgeman County's record now sits at 4-0. As for Wichita County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hodgeman County will welcome Ness City at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wichita County, they will host Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Syracuse will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Wichita County surely won't give up without a fight.
