Baseball Recap: Loyd Star Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Columbia, Loyd Star was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the West Marion Trojans by a score of 13-10. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 13-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Casen Easterling and Graham Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Easterling went 1-for-5 with five RBI, while Smith scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Kees, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Loyd Star now has a winning record of 2-1. As for West Marion, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Loyd Star will face off against Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Marion, they will square off against Poplarville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
